The Click Pass – Open Bobo Project
The Click Pass is a must learn sleight for any coin magician.
Application
There are many variations of the click pass and Bobo’s teaches you a few different techniques.
One of my favorite click pass sleights is found on Curtis Kam’s Palms of Steel 5 DVD as well as Ponta the Smith’s Sick DVD. The technique is different from the method use in the video above, but novice coin workers will appreciate both approaches once learned. In Curtis and Ponta’s approach, the click pass is used as a steal for multiple coins. Both are worth checking out!
The click pass is often used to let the magician get one ahead on a variety of coin effects. I’ve used the version of the Click Pass above in a short routine using two silver dollars that I learned from Harry Lorayne’s The Magic Book. In his book, Harry has a trick called 1 to 10 where you use two paper balls, place one in each hand as you count from 1 to 10. When you count 10, the two balls have appeared in 1 hand. Using coins, I perform this quickie and then count from 10 to 1 using the click pass. Add a multiple coin vanish and you’ve got a 1 minute trick that you can do with two coins.
(Yes I realize it isn’t a stellar, plot driven effect but I’ve found it useful when children in my kids’ school know I do magic and beg for a trick. Coin magic provides a lot of impromptu magic moments).
